FILMMAKER BIO
Kerri Michael is an award-winning screenwriter and producer based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Film credits include The Unbeatable Bixby (2019), which took the prize for Best Film at the Little Rock 48 Hour Film Project; Silent Night (2021); and The Book Club (2024), still in its festival run and for which Kerri won an award for Best Screenplay at the Sick Chick Flicks Film Festival 2024 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She has served as Co-Director of the Rock City Film Festival (formerly the Made in Arkansas Film Festival) since its inception in 2018. She has also acted in three short films. In addition to co-producing Lethia, a dramatic narrative short film shooting this fall, Kerri is currently co-producing a documentary film about gender-affirming care for trans people in Arkansas.
In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Kerri is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice as well as a yoga and meditation teacher. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Kerri enjoys telling stories that explore the lives of women and girls in the South. Her favorite stories are those told through an irreverent lens, and she loves a twisted fairy tale.
